Krav Maga is Hebrew for “contact combat. “It was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld, a Hungarian-born Israeli martial artist, as a form of self-defense and physical training.
This practice is different from your usual traditional martial arts. There are no “stances” like you may see in Karate. We only really have two; Fighting Stance and Neutral Stance (a general, relaxed pose). We do go through different steps in a technique to make it easier for you to learn, though. As one of the instructors here at Krav Pro puts it, “You should punish whoever lay their hands on you.”
1. Krav Maga is Easy to Learn
Anyone can study Krav Maga, regardless of their size or strength. You don’t need prior knowledge of any form of self-defense at all! The programs here at Krav Pro is designed so that anyone can learn it in the shortest amount of time.
2. Krav Maga Gets Your Heart Rate Up
You don’t have to be fit to train in Krav Maga, but you will definitely get fitness out of it. At Krav Pro, each class begins with a warm-up, then we spend some time to practice the technique of the day, and the last part is the stress drill, where you get to test out what you’ve learned in a safe and controlled environment.
3. Krav Maga is a Blend of Multiple Martial Arts
Fun fact: A Kravist is trained in combinations of Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, Judo, Aikido, and even a little wrestling. All of which is put together and is tailored to help you face a real-life situation where you may have to defend yourself.
4. Training Krav Maga Boosts Confidence
After your trial class here at Krav Pro, you will leave feeling invincible. Many find it so cool that this is what you see in most action movies. Just to name a few: James Bond, Laura Croft, The Debt, and of course, John Wick.
5. You Will Meet A Lot of Amazing People
The community at Krav Pro is definitely tight-knit. We design our seminars and outings to fit the needs of our students. Many always look forward to annual events like the Women Only Self Defense Seminars and the Anti-Active Shooters Seminars. Krav Pro’s motto is “Give More than You Take.” We try to embody that saying by supporting local organizations like StreetWise and Women’s Shelters. And, for the last few years, we raised money to send over 200 shoe boxes filled with necessities and goodies to kids in need every Christmas.
